Forest Coach Lines bus crashes into trees on Forest Way at Belrose
A bus has shattered its windscreen and badly damaged its front end up after it crashed through a median strip at Belrose.
A bus was badly damaged when it left a busy road on the northern beaches and struck a number of trees.
The Forest Coach Lines vehicle ended up with a shattered windscreen and a damaged front end when it speared off Forest Way at Belrose on Sunday.
Several small trees and large shrubs were left scattered across the southbound lanes after the northbound bus smashed through the median strip on a slight left-hand bend.
There were no passengers on board.
Traffic was stopped briefly in both directions, near the intersection with Ralston Ave, after the bus left the two-lane road just after 1pm.
A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman said the male bus driver was examined by paramedics.
“We responded to triple-0 calls and initially sent two vehicles to the scene, but one ambulance was called off before it arrived,” the spokeswoman said.
“The driver was checked and did not require transportation to hospital.”
One southbound lane on Forest Way was still closed to traffic more than two hours after the incident, to allow authorities to remove to remove the bus.
Forest Coach Lines director of operations, Jay Zmijewski, said the bus was on its way back to Terrey Hills to begin its next run when the incident occurred.
“We are working with police to determine what happened,” Mr Zmijewski said.
“Thankfully our staff member, and no one else, was injured. He is now on leave.”
