Fire has torn through a popular burger restaurant at Manly Wharf, forcing dozens of diners to be evacuated.
A NSW Fire + Rescue spokesman confirmed firefighters received an automatic fire alarm from Betty’s Burgers in Manly at 12.58pm.
“We received reports of a fire in a restaurant dining area,” the spokesman said.
“There was a fire in a kitchen area within the exhaust flue which has spread to a wall cavity.”
Approximately 50 people were evacuated from the restaurant and the fire operation is ongoing.
Four fire trucks and one senior officer are attending the scene and vision shows firefighters addressing the situation from the roof of the wharf building.
Other nearby restaurants including The Bavarian are operating as normal.
Betty’s Burgers is an American-style restaurant serving up burgers, fries, custard shakes and alcohol.
