A man on a mobility scooter is in a serious condition following an accident with a car on Tuesday morning.
The scooter is believed to have come off the footpath causing the driver to fall into a car at the junction of Hawkesbury Ave and Pittwater Rd, near the Dee Why RSL at around 8am on Tuesday.
A CareFlight helicopter was called and landed at Dee Why oval, according to a spokesman from NSW Ambulance.
A paramedic attending to the man, told a Manly Daily reporter at the scene that the mobility scooter was travelling along the footpath but came to a sudden stop, causing it to topple off the kerb.
He said the man fell against the side of a stationary car waiting at the stop lights at a busy intersection.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman described the injured man in his 60s as being in a “serious condition”.
He said he suffered injuries to his arm and a cut to his forehead.
He said the man was at first treated by the CareFlight medical team, before being taken by ambulance to Royal North Shore Hospital.
The accident caused significant traffic delays during peak hour traffic in the Dee Why area.
The scene was cleared by 9am.
