Stuart ‘Gus’ Mould: Ex northern beaches baseball coach’s torture routines
The sick torture routines of a youth baseball coach have been revealed – with a court hearing he once gave a boy a 10-minute ‘toer’ in a Brookvale car park for not showing enough support for the Sydney Roosters. On another occasion he pulled the toes of a boy any time Homer said ‘Doh’ during a Simpsons episode.

The barbaric torture inflicted on more than 20 boys by a monster northern beaches representative baseball coach has been revealed, with the prominent sporting figure physically abusing aspiring athletes for almost two decades.
Stuart Mould, 71, of Batemans Bay, would wreak pain on boys as young as eight in a series of self-styled ‘punishments’ known as toers, lazos, bee stings, crushers, twisters and wristers.
Also known as Gus, his offending took place between the mid-1990s to 2012 in a series of locations across the northern beaches.
The brutal acts of violence would include forcefully twisting toes for long periods, crushing feet, twisting nipples on shirtless victims and painfully twisting wrists.
One of the most bizarre acts of abuse were what he called ‘lazos’ or ‘bee stings’, which would see two or more thick rubber bands placed around a boy’s foot to be pulled back by Mould and let go, causing wilts. The agreed facts, tendered to the District Court, revealed the ‘lazos’ would take place in blocks with examples of 60 ‘bee stings’ inflicted at one time.
Disturbing examples of Mould’s abuse revealed breaking the toe of a 12 or 13-year-old boy in 1995 with a ‘toer’, administering ‘lazos’ inside his parked car at Newport Oval, and giving one boy a 10-minute ‘toer’ in a Brookvale car park after an NRL clash because the victim didn’t show enough support for Mould’s NRL team the Sydney Roosters.
On one occasion, Mould pulled the toes of a boy anytime Homer said ‘Doh’ during an episode of The Simpsons in 1995.
On an overnight flight to a baseball competition in Japan about 2006 or 2007, the junior coach gave one child three-hours of ‘toers’ to test if the victim could remain silent.
Court documents reveal one victim believes he was physically abused at least 325 times by his former baseball coach.
When police raided Mould’s former Sanctuary Point home last year, three video tapes were found in his bedroom cupboard containing a montage of homemade videos filmed by Mould, the agreed statement of facts stated.
Horrific footage of Mould abusing victims was captured, showing the former coach saying “I want to be able to see your head, see how you are dying” and “I want to hear the trauma”.
In Downing Centre District Court on Friday, Mould’s barrister told Judge Garry Neilson the motivation behind the torture wasn’t for self gratification or sadistic reasons, but a mistaken belief it would make the boys stronger.
In a letter of apology tendered to the court, the 71-year-old said “I want to say sorry but cannot” and he believed he was helping the victims with ‘mind over matter’.
Mould, who previously pleaded guilty to 50 charges including assault, produce child pornography and possess child abuse material, will be sentenced next Friday.
