A boy suffered serious head injuries when he fell about four metres at a Sydney skate park.
The boy, 10, was skating with friends at the popular Mona Vale skate facility when he hit his head just before midday on Sunday.
A witness said the boy was wearing a helmet, but it had split on impact.
“There was a dent in the helmet and it was cracked,” the witness said.
The ambulance helicopter, with a specialist medial team on-board, and three road ambulance units, went to the skate park just off Pittwater Rd to treat and stabilise the boy.
A paramedic held the boy’s head still while he was being treated as his friends and family members looked on.
After he was stabilised at the scene the boy was loaded on to an ambulance for a short trip to the helicopter in nearby Kitchener Park.
The boy was flown to the Sydney Children's Hospital at Randwick in a stable condition.
