PLANS have been submitted for a $7.2 million super-mansion on one of the most exclusive streets in the northern beaches.

Multi-millionaire businessman David Wade and his wife Jennifer are proposing to build an “architecturally significant” home across four plots they own on Whale Beach Rd, Palm Beach.

In a development application submitted to Northern Beaches Council, the pair propose knocking down the existing home on the site and replacing it with a four-storey mansion.

A basement car park will be built into the cliff with space for four cars.

From the basement there will be a lift to the ground floor which will feature three bedrooms, all with ensuite.

Also on the ground floor there will be a huge open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, a laundry, two toilets, gym and a sauna.

Outside there is a separate dining area and a swimming pool complete with pool terrace.

The first level features a further two bedrooms with ensuite along with a second kitchen and separate dining and living areas.

There will also be a storage area, toilet and a huge cinema room. Outside on level one there will be yet another dining area and living space.

Floor two has the master bedroom and ensuite with a walk-in wardrobe, study, laundry and terrace with views out to the Pacific Ocean.

Renowned Surry Hills architecture firm Tzannes, which is behind some of Sydney’s most spectacular homes, has designed the $7.2 million cliff-side mansion.

“The design of the new family home exhibits a contemporary and finely detailed architecture,” the firm said in its application.

Tzannes added: “The proposed dwelling house will better serve the future living requirements of its owner, whilst the integration of architectural and landscape design on the site will provide a favourable outcome for the locality.”

Not much is known about the Wades or how they made their money.

However, what is clear is that they’re not short of it.

Last year it was reported they spent more than $11 million on the long-held Woollahra home of philanthropist Paget Sayers.

The Wades are thought to also own next-door — a $12 million trophy home built in the Italianate manor style.

Records show the pair also own a sprawling mansion and grounds in Turramurra set across 2,583m2.

The Palm Beach proposal is open for public consultation until April 3.
