A super-sized splash park will soon arrive at one of Sydney’s fastest growing suburbs with work on the $6 million recreation precinct to begin on Monday.
To be known as Ron’s Creek Park, the 2.5ha precinct will be located in the heart of Oran Park and will arguably be the premier park in the Macarthur region.
The splash park, to be joint-funded by Camden Council, will cater to all ages and be surrounded by in-ground trampolines, table tennis tables, climbing nets, a double flying-fox and half-court basketball court.
The developers of Oran Park, Greenfields Development Company, say the dynamic precinct will add an extra dimension for the growing community.
“We are pretty excited about it all,” Greenfields Development Company general manager Mick Owens said.
“The splash park will bring fantastic activity to the heart of Oran Park.
“The Curry Reserve splash park has been extremely popular in Camden and we expect the same for this major splash park in Oran Park as it will have major playgrounds to go with it.”
Mr Owens said he was hopeful the splash park component of the Ron’s Creek Park precinct would be open for the public by late January next year.
“That’s the plan,” he said.
“That is the highest priority, to try to get the splash park open by summer, weather permitting.
“There is an extremely tight program to do this but everyone is committed.”
The wheelchair accessible Ron’s Creek Park precinct will also include seniors’ fitness facilities, an amenities building, picnic settings, barbecues and a civic zone.
