RESIDENTS in suburbs including Appin, Menangle, Cawdor, Bargo and Wilton will head to the polls on Saturday, October 28, for a by-election to choose a new Wollondilly East Ward councillor.

RESIDENTS in suburbs including Appin, Menangle, Cawdor, Bargo and Wilton will head to the polls on Saturday, October 28 for a by-election to choose a new Wollondilly East Ward councillor.
The NSW Electoral Commission will host the by-election following the resignation of councillor Ray Law recently.
Mayor Judith Hannan said Wollondilly was facing unprecedented growth, particularly in the East Ward and she and her council colleagues were looking forward to working with the newly elected councillor to advocate for the towns and villages of the East.
“In the East Ward we have a unique opportunity to build a whole new town in Wilton, we are
also advocating for electrified and high speed rail and campaigning to improve Appin Rd,’’ she siad.
Wollondilly general manager Luke Johnson said this was an exciting time to be representing the people of the shire.
“They will be working to advocate for Wollondilly’s needs and to drive continuous mprovements in our economy, tourism, infrastructure and service provision for our current and future communities,’’ he said.
Voting is compulsory and fines will apply for people who do not cast their vote.
