A MAN was threatened with a pistol in a nasty road rage incident which was triggered after an aggressive passenger in another car asked “What are you looking at?”

Camden police are investigating the incident and urging drivers to be patient behind the wheel after a black pistol was produced and a shot fired during the attack on Raby Rd, at Catherine Field, on Thursday night.

The attack started after a car pulled up next to a man’s vehicle at the Camden Valley Way intersection about 8.50pm and a passenger in the other car asked, “What are you looking at?”

Inspector Jayne Doherty, of Camden police, said the man then drove on to Raby Rd and the other car followed.

Police said the man pulled over before the driver of the other car drove up alongside him and pulled out a pistol.

“The driver of the car quickly pulled away fearing he was going to be shot,’’ police said. As the man drove away, he heard a single shot fired.

“This incident is a great cause of concern because a firearm was produced,” Insp Doherty said. “Road rage incidents can lead to an assault.’’

Police could not release the make of the wanted car as investigations had entered a critical stage.
