A mum-of-two’s illegal drug operation based out of her Grasmere garage was brought undone after a police strike force tapped her mobile phone, court documents have revealed.
Vanessa Allison Lenard, 46, entered pleas of guilty through her lawyer to four of 43 drug-related charges levelled against her at Picton Local Court on Tuesday.
The police facts revealed Lenard dealt methamphetamine and other drugs from her home and garage in Grasmere over June and July this year.
Court documents state police intercepted Lenard’s phone during an investigation into drug supply in the Camden area and through monitoring her calls, discovered she was organising purchases and sales of illegal drugs, mainly meth.
According to the facts, police phone taps revealed Lenard had a regular customer base of known associates who would either come to her house to collect the drugs or arrange for a delivery to their home or business.
Over the two months, police facts show Lenard supplied 19.53 grams of meth in 29 transactions.
When she was arrested on July 28, police facts show officers discovered a 30ml bottle of gamma-hydroxybutyrate (commonly known as date-rape drug GHB) in her handbag, as well as a small bag with 0.23 grams of meth in her wallet and another baggie containing 0.04 grams of meth beside her bed.
During their raid of Lenard’s house, court documents show police identified the garage as the area used for supplying and using drugs.
According to the facts, they found drug paraphernalia including scales for measuring the drugs, ice pipes, and plastic bags previously identified as those used by Lenard. Police also uncovered two containers of cutting agents which are mixed with the illegal drugs to increase the weight.
In the police facts, police state it was clear Lenard dealt drugs to support her own drug and gambling addictions.
Despite earlier denials of the offences, the court heard Lenard pleaded guilty to two counts of supplying drugs on an ongoing basis and two counts of possessing prohibited drugs. The remaining 39 charges were withdrawn.
The court heard Lenard was entering a residential drug rehabilitation program on Tuesday which would last at least a month.
She will return to Picton Local Court on February 3 next year for sentencing.
