Two people have been charged after police had to call for backup when a call to a noise complaint allegedly led to one officer being assaulted with a pool cue.

About 12.50am on Sunday, officers attached to Camden Police Area Command attended a home on Leffler Street, Oran Park, regarding a noise complaint.

Police spoke to the occupants requesting the music be turned down but a woman refused, becoming argumentative before a man complied with the request.

But, as officers returned to their vehicle, they were approached by the woman who allegedly continued to argue with the officers.

Then a man, holding a pool cue, ran down the driveway and allegedly threw the pool cue at a male constable before throwing punches towards him.

Capsicum spray was deployed before further occupants from the home became involved.

More police officers attended to assist, and the woman is alleged to have kicked a male sergeant in the shin. As the constable attempted to arrest the woman, the man allegedly kicked him in the face.

The 39-year-old man and 38-year-old woman were restrained and arrested and were both taken to Narellan Police Station.

The constable suffered a laceration to his face and was treated by paramedics.

The man was charged with intimidating police officer in the execution of duty, assaulting a police officer in execution of duty, resisting or hindering police officer in the execution of duty, and armed with intent to commit indictable offence.

He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

The woman was charged with two counts of assault police officer in execution of duty and resist officer in execution of duty. She was granted strict bail conditions and is set to appear at Picton Local Court on July 6.
