Truck driver charged with 104 offences

A TRUCK driver will face Campbelltown Court in January after being charged with more than 100 offences relating to alleged irregularities in multiple work diaries.

On March 6, the 38-year-old man departed a yard on Campbelltown Rd, Denham Court. At 11.25am he was signalled to stop at a heavy vehicle inspection station.

The station was operated by South Wests Metropolitan Region Highway Patrol officers and Roads and Maritime inspectors.

An inspection of the driver’s work diary allegedly revealed inconsistencies in regard to its accuracy.

Police say a further three work diaries were found in the cabin, with these diaries also revealing inaccuracies.

The diaries have been seized by police.

The offences included 30 counts of making false or misleading entries in a work record, two counts of defacing or changing a work diary record and one count of possessing more than one written work diary with unused pages.

The man, from Victoria, will appear at Campbelltown Local Court on January 29.

Driver not give information to record keeper as prescribed (one count — incorporating 61 offences)

Solo driver rest less than Basic Fatigue Management (BFM) (six counts)

Solo driver work more than BFM minimum time (four counts)

Deface or change a work diary record (two counts)

Driver possess more than one written work diary with unused pages (one count)
