The pig at Campbelltown’s Tim’s Garden Centre got people talking about the US election yesterday, when he donned a Donald Trump mask for the occasion.
Garden centre owner Tim Pickles said pig’s aim was always to start a discussion and get residents thinking, and from the response he received online it’s clear the tactic worked.
“More than 8000 people saw Pig yesterday, and he has fans around the world,” Mr Pickles said.
“I just wanted to stir up a bit of comment; thousands of people drive past there everyday and it’s just to have a bit of fun and get people thinking.”
Mr Pickles said as the day wore on, people became more and more surprised and vocal about the election result, which saw Republican candidate Mr Trump elected America’s next president.
He plans to put Pig out again today but hasn’t yet decided on a new message.
“When Donald Trump first appeared as a contender we thought it was a bit of a joke so we originally put up a sign asking Pig or Trump and Pig won by hundreds of votes,” he said.
“I’m not making a political statement with this but people seem to really like responding to Pig.”
