Three teenagers charged after alleged high-speed police chase from Glenfield to Carnes Hill

Three teenagers – including one as young as 14 – have been charged after allegedly stealing a Mercedes hatchback and embarking on a high-speed police chase in Sydney’s southwest.

Highway patrol and helicopter police were deployed in a high-speed police chase involving three teenage boys, who allegedly stole a car in Sydney’s southwest.

Police allege they ordered the teens to stop while driving a silver Mercedes hatchback car, which was reported stolen from a home in Killarney Heights on the northern beaches at 3am on Thursday, February 29.

The teens allegedly failed to stop at 4.15pm on Saturday along Glenfield Rd in Glenfield, resulting in a high-speed police chase from Glenfield to Carnes Hill.

The 14 and 17 year old teens were granted conditional bail to reappear at a children’s court on Monday March 11.

Police rolled out road spikes but failed to stop the three teens from fleeing.

The car full of teens allegedly continued to evade police by speeding recklessly with punctured tyres.

A police helicopter tracked the stolen Mercedes, which was allegedly being driven up to 150km/h.

About 4.40pm police allege the trio abandoned the car in front of Carnes Hill Marketplace and ran from cops.

Police arrested the boys aged 14, 16 and 17 nearby before they were taken to Liverpool police station to be charged.

The 16-year-old alleged driver was charged with not stopping during a police pursuit and driving dangerously, driving conveyance taken without consent from the owner and carrying a cutting weapon upon apprehension.

The alleged passengers aged 14 and 17 were both charged with being carried in conveyance taken without consent from the owner.

The three appeared at a children’s court on Sunday, where the 16-year-old boy was refused bail to appear at the children’s court on Monday, March 11.

The alleged driver was charged with not stopping during a police pursuit and driving dangerously, driving conveyance taken without consent from the owner and carrying a cutting weapon upon apprehension.

The 14 and 17 year old teens were granted conditional bail to reappear at a children’s court on Monday.

They were the alleged passengers and were charged with being carried in conveyance taken without consent from the owner. They are due to appear in court on Monday.
