Three face court after brawl at The Oaks Hotel hospitalises man in 60s

Five punters have been charged – including four men and a woman – after an alleged brawl at a pub in southwest Sydney. Three have now appeared in court.

A 62-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries and a broken shoulder after a brawl broke out at a pub at The Oaks last month.

Police charged four men and a woman in relation to the incident at The Oaks Hotel with two of the alleged brawlers – Brett Andrew Clarke and Barry Alan Clark – appearing in Picton Court on Thursday.

Clarke, 34, was charged with affray against multiple people and behaving in an offensive manner in the establishment’s gaming room.

Clark, 62, was also charged with affray and for behaving in an offensive manner.

Police received reports of an incident at the pub about 7.30pm on June 24, but by the time they had arrived the alleged brawlers were nowhere to be found.

However, police were met by a 62-year-old man in urgent need of medical attention. He was taken to Campbelltown Hospital in a stable condition for treatment.

Police arrested Clarke and Clark from their home in The Oaks on July 8, while another co-accused, Mitchell Sutherland, was arrested at Tahmoor on the same day.

Sutherland, 39, faced Picton Court this month after being charged with affray and assault occasioning harm.

Camden police also arrested a 25-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman and charged them with affray and assault. They will attend Picton Court on July 25, with Sutherland reappearing on the same date.

Clarke and Clark will return to court next month.
