A Spring Farm man with an extensive criminal history has pleaded guilty to unlawfully keeping two electronic tasers in his bedroom,

Father of two Peter Gordon Reid, 47, told police he had mistakenly purchased the tasers in Thailand a number of years ago believing they were torches for deep water diving.

A CrimeStoppers tip off led police to conduct a search warrant on his house on January 10 this year, with Reid revealing to police before they arrived where the tasers were stored.

Peter Gordon Reid has been ordered to complete 180 hours of community service.
Peter Gordon Reid has been ordered to complete 180 hours of community service.

Reid, representing himself at Picton Local Court yesterday, told Magistrate Ian Cheetham he took full responsibility for his actions.

“I take full responsibility,” he said. “I knew they were against the law. If I did hand them in, I thought I would be charged. It was probably irresponsible to not hand them in at that stage.”

Reid, wearing a blue and grey snow jacket, denied ever using the tasers on a person.

“At no time I took them (the tasers) out of my room,” he said. “They never touched anyone.”

At one stage during his submissions, Reid revealed that he had no friends and limited family, requesting any potential community work to be served at a nearby Lifeline in order to remove himself from any criminal elements.

He was convicted and placed on an 18-month Community Corrections Order and ordered to complete 180 hours of community service.
