SOFTBALL pitching prodigy Blake Hunter, 15, will soon torment international batters, selected to represent the Australian Under-17s squad.
After leading the Macarthur Softball Association to state championship glory, the South West Sydney Academy of Sport (SWSAS) athlete announced himself as a deserving recipient of a Macarthur Chronicle Local Sports Star nomination.
The qualified coach, umpire and scorer credited SWSAS for their role in developing his pitching skills.
“The coaches at SWSAS have played a big role in my development,” he said.
Hunter’s international representative career will launch in July this year, competing in the Friendship Series.
The Ambarvale athlete said he would continue to seek higher honours. “At the moment I just want to be the best, the best I can personally be and hopefully one day play for Australia,” he said.
Hunter recently catapulted his Macarthur Softball association team to state championship glory, reversing a six-year silver medal hoodoo, with a critical two home-runs and crucial pitching performance.
He hopes to earn selection to the World Cup in 2021.
