Raby’s Tristyn Ball is aspiring to follow the footsteps of local rugby league legend John Skandalis and join the NRL ranks of the Wests Tigers.
The 15-year-old rising star has built a daunting resume since first taking the field at the age of four with the Campbelltown City Kangaroos juniors, this year being selected in the under-16 NSW Blues squad.
The Mt Carmel Catholic College student, currently enjoying his second year in the Western Suburbs Magpies Harold Matthews team, has previously represented the NSW Combined Catholic Colleges and Wests Tigers Cubs.
This year he penned a four-year contract with the Wests Tigers.
Ball, who lists Tongan international and rugby league wrecking ball Jason Taumalolo as his idol, said he first played rugby league just to hang with his friends.
“At the start, it was just to have fun with my mates,” he said.
“Now I want to play it for the rest of my life. My major goal is to play for the Wests Tigers but obviously I must make all the small steps in between.”
The Macarthur Chronicle Junior Sports Star nominee will represent the NSW Blues under-16s for the first time on June 9 at Belmore Sports Ground.
