A professional boxer who has taken his talents across the globe, has pleaded to punching a woman in the head.
About a month later, he shared intimate shower pictures of the woman in an act of revenge.
Former world champion boxer Renold Quinlan, 32, rose to fame with a knockout win over Daniel Geale in 2016, has pleaded guilty to striking a woman in frightening scenes in south west Sydney.
Following a breakup which saw Quinlan staying at a refuge, the boxer arrived unannounced at the victim’s Campbelltown home in August last year.
Court documents state a war of words erupted in which an angry Quinlan made allegations of infidelity. When the woman went to her car to leave, the professional boxer rushed over and punched her in the head causing her to drop to the ground.
Quinlan then grabbed her by the jumper and dragged her into the house, with her head colliding with the front steps, the police facts state.
The woman, sporting a swollen and bruised eye, then jumped up and fled into a nearby home.
A couple of months later Quinlan and the woman spoke, with the conversation turning sour when the boxer made infidelity allegations once more. The boxer threatened at the time to send sexually explicit pictures to a friend of the woman.
Less than a week later the woman refused to answer a series of phone calls from Quinlan, leading to an abusive message. About 1am the following day, he sent a friend of the woman a collage of explicit pictures he had taken of her previously.
In Burwood Local Court on Friday, the 32-year-old had his sentence adjourned for two weeks so a psychological report could be completed and had his bail address changed from Belmore to Redfern.
Quinlan will be sentenced later this month for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally distributing intimate image without consent and contravene and apprehended violence order.
