For the second weekend in a row a man appeared at Campbelltown Hospital nursing a serious bullet wound but this time, police don’t have all the answers.
The 39 year old victim, of Wedderburn, arrived at the hospital about 9pm Saturday with relatives.
He had a gunshot wound to his shoulder and is now in a stable condition.
Officers from Campbelltown City Police Area Command are actively investigating the incident with crime manager Detective Inspector Greg Inger telling the Chronicle that the victim was assisting.
“(The incident) wasn’t random,” Det Insp Inger said. “Something happened and we are investigating what and why.
“(The victim) is assisting us with our inquiries.”
Last Sunday, May 19, a 17 year old presented at Campbelltown Hospital with a bullet wound and later required surgery at Liverpool Hospital.
Campbelltown police later charged 20 year old Matofa Alofia, of Minto, in relation to the incident.
Police allege Alofia fired a silver revolver in a moving vehicle with no regard for the safety of others.
He is now before the courts and is next expected to appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Tuesday.
Inquiries continue into Saturday night’s (May 25) shooting.
