Historic Picton may soon expand its horizons with a seniors village overlooking Antill Park Country Golf Club on the cards.
The ‘character-filled’ retirement oasis is proposed on a 5.5ha site with the potential to transform the northern gateway of Picton.
The planning proposal request was lodged to Wollondilly Council by Michael Brown Planning Strategies on behalf of landowner Judy Mallam.
Documents lodged to council state the proposed development has the “express purpose” of being “an extension of the Picton urban area”.
Michael Brown told the Chronicle there was a shortage of seniors housing in the area.
“There is not much, or anything, in terms of seniors housing in Picton,” he said.

“It’s a great site, overlooking the golf course on the entrance of town.
“We have put a lot of thought into it — all the units would have garages, there would be plenty of carparking for visitors and a community centre as well.”
The seniors living village would include about 60 units.
Mr Brown said there was no risk of Picton continuing to develop past the senior’s village, as the site is surrounded by the golf course.
Community members can make a submission to Wollondilly Council until March 13.
The Wollondilly Council Local Planning Panel is expected to make a decision on the Planning Proposal Request.
