Brad Soper, who died in a suspected home invasion in Harrington Park on Sunday morning, was still dealing with a breakup with a senior lawyer at a prominent Camden law firm.
The 35-year-old fitness fanatic had been in a de facto relationship with lawyer Kaisha Gambell for a number of years before the relationship broke down late last year.
It is understood the pair previously lived with Ms Gambell’s parents in Bringelly.
Ms Gambell declined to comment on his death. A work colleague said it was out of respect to Mr Soper’s family.
The personal trainer reportedly spent his final hours making inaudible “noises” as he roamed barefoot through the sleepy streets of Harrington Park and Oran Park.
Witnesses and CCTV vision are helping police piece together Mr Soper’s final movements, as mystery continues about why and how the personal trainer entered the suburban home.
Camden crime manager Detective Inspector Shane Woolbank said today the fitness fanatic lived just streets away in neighbouring Oran Park.
“We were able to track Mr Soper coming out of the woodland opposite the address, but as to how he actually got there or why he went down there is still subject to our investigation,” Inspector Woolbank said.
He said Mr Soper had not been identified at any nearby licensed venues before the fatal confrontation with the Harrington Park homeowner.
Mr Soper died on Sunday morning after a confrontation in the home of Harrington Park resident Johan Schwartz.
Mr Schwartz, 44, was questioned by police at Narellan police station for 10 hours on Sunday and released without charge.
Results from the autopsy, which took place yesterday, are expected in coming weeks.
