Picton Road: Jack Teece to face trial after mum dies in motorbike crash

A teenager will face trial after a 47-year-old single mum-of-two was killed when she was allegedly thrown from a Harley Davidson in a horror crash on Sydney’s outskirts.

A teenager accused of pulling out in front of a Harley Davidson and causing a horror crash which saw two people thrown from the bike will fight the charges at trial.

Jack Daniel Teece, 19, appeared via AVL at Picton Local Court on Tuesday where he formally entered pleas of not guilty and was committed to stand trial over the death of 47-year-old Jasmina Blazevska.

The Eagle Vale teenager was allegedly driving a Ford Falcon XR6 west along Picton Rd on February 28 when he turned into Wilton park Rd in front of a Harley Davidson carrying two people.

The motorcycle was being driven by 56-year-old Mario Conti with Ms Blazevska as the pillion passenger. Both were thrown from the bike when it collided with the ute.

Both suffered multiple serious injuries and were taken to Liverpool Hospital in a serious condition, but Ms Blazevska succumbed to her injuries a week later.

Mr Teece was initially charged with two counts of reckless driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and driving without displaying his P-plates.

He was later hit with two further charges, including negligent driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning death.

The teenager was granted conditional bail following the crash, secured by $2000 bond from his mother.

Mr Teece is not allowed to drive a motor vehicle on a road, but is allowed to continue working as a machinery operator as long as he does not enter a roadway.

Solicitor James Howell represented Mr Teece on Tuesday, where he confirmed the teenager would face a trial over the allegations.

He has formally pleaded not guilty to a charge of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving occasioning death – driver manner dangerous.

Charges of negligent driving occasioning death, not comply P2 licence condition by not displaying P plates and negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm are put on a Section 166 as related charges. One charge of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm was withdrawn.

Ms Blazevska succumbed to her injuries on March 6, leaving behind two devastated daughters, aged 20 and 17.

Tributes flowed for the mother online in the days following her death with many describing her as a “beautiful” woman.

“So so sorry to hear the sad news, gone way too soon may she rest in peace,” a family friend wrote on Facebook.

“My condolences are with you and your family. May she rest in heaven,” another friend said.

A GoFundMe was created following her passing to help her daughters with funeral costs.

“Jasmina was unconscious at the scene and was in a deep coma until the 6th of March where she unfortunately passed away,” the fundraiser reads.

“She has left behind two beautiful daughters who are students and they would appreciate any help they could get from the community in this difficult time to assist them with funeral costs, and emergency funding as she was a single mother.”

Mr Teece will reappear at Campbelltown Local Court next month for arraignment.
