Mount Annan teen charged with luring children, possessing child abuse material

A southwest Sydney teenager was caught allegedly trying to lure two young children into a park, leading police to the discovery of large amounts of child abuse material.

A southwest Sydney teenager will appear in court charged with multiple offences including the possession of child abuse material after he allegedly tried to lure two young children into a reserve.

An off-duty police officer arrested an 18-year-old on July 18 after he allegedly attempted to lure two children, aged eight and 10, into a Mount Annan park.

Following his arrest, police searched the man’s home and allegedly found replica firearms and multiple hard drives.

The teenager was taken to Camden Police Station and charged, with the matters remaining before the court.

Police investigated the 18-year-old’s hard drives and other evidence found at his Mount Annan home, and allegedly found evidence of multiple crimes committed between 2019 and 2021.

Police will allege there was a significant amount of child abuse material on the hard drives.

The 18-year-old was charged on Thursday with a string of 17 offences including the possession of child abuse material.

He was refused bail and will appear at Campbelltown Local Court on Friday.
