CAMDEN will once again be the backdrop of a blockbuster movie, with scenes for the live action version of Peter Rabbit to be filmed at Kirkham.
Macquarie Grove Bridge was location scouted for the film, which will star Rose Byrne (Get Him To The Greek) as Bea and Domhnall Gleeson (The Revenant) as Mr McGregor.
The 2018 film will also feature the voice talents of Margot Robbie, Daisy Ridley, Elizabeth Debicki and James Cordon as Peter Rabbit.
Based on the beloved children’s books by Beatrix Potter, the movie will be directed by Friends With Benefits and Annie producer Will Gluck, with screenplay written by Will Gluck and Rob Lieber.
The post-production film will be a feature length adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s classic tale of a rebellious rabbit trying to sneak into a farmer’s vegetable garden.
Camden Mayor Lara Symkowiak said the film was a good opportunity for the region. “It’s great, Camden offers so much to filmmakers and there’s such a variety of landscapes,” she said.
“It’s no surprise to see films made in Sydney, and we will work with anyone willing to invest.”
Other scenes for the movie have been shot at Sydney’s Centennial Park. The Macarthur region was previously scouted as the location for productions such as Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken and Mel Gibson’s Hacksaw Ridge.
