A paramedic had to be lowered to the banks of a creek in southwest Sydney to reach a woman in need of medical assistance.
NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to reports of a woman requiring treatment near Simmos Beach Reserve at Macquarie Fields just after 1pm on Wednesday, but she was located in an area where emergency crews could not reach her.
The Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter helped paramedics to reach the patient, before she was taken back across the creek in an SES boat.
The woman had sustained multiple cuts and bruises and was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
NSW Ambulance Inspector Joe Ibrahim said paramedics arrived to find the patient located on the opposite side of the creek, which was around 50 metres wide.
“A paramedic was lowered down to the patient by the Toll Ambulance Rescue Helicopter,” he said.
“She was suffering from exposure to the elements as well as multiple cuts and bruises.
“Emergency crews did an excellent job in reaching the patient and getting her back to safety for further treatment.”
