SEVERAL Macarthur region schools have received a major boost with over $45 million worth of upgrades announced for schools in the area today.
As part of a $220 million works program on 13 NSW schools, Hurlstone Agricultural High School will receive a $15 million upgrade to complete it’s new science classrooms and computer labs alongside a host of other learning spaces.
A new special needs school will be built at the old Hope Christian School site at Narellan, opposite Narellan Public School.
The $22.5 million Yandelora School will contain 16 technology-enabled classrooms with purpose-built amenities, a hydrotherapy pool and multipurpose spaces.
Camden state Liberal MP Chris Patterson said the school was expected to be completed by 2019.
“Yandelora School will cater for up to 96 students from across the local community with a range of learning needs and disabilities,” he said.
Ingleburn High School’s $10 million upgrade will see 10 new classrooms added along with improvements to the school access road.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced that contracts for the construction works had been allocated during a visit to Narellan today alongside Education Minister Rob Stokes.
“These projects will expand schools by at least 3500 more student places — while also generating valuable jobs in the construction industry,” she said.
