A decision on a highly-anticipated three-storey ‘super pub’ in southwest Sydney, complete with its own gold class cinema complex and rooftop cocktail lounge, is just days away.

The vibrant entertainment precinct, valued at $38 million, is proposed for the fast-growing community of Oran Park with the company behind the project declaring, if approved, it would be one of the state’s best pubs.

Plans for the facility were lodged by Momento Hospitality, the operators of Bella Vista Hotel, last May and will be assessed by the Western Sydney City Planning Panel.

The unique entertainment facility would feature a rooftop cocktail lounge, a picturesque beer garden, first-class restaurant and bistro, as well as a woodfire pizzeria and cafe planned for the ground floor.

Two cinemas, each with a 40-person capacity, are planned for the first floor of the complex alongside a number of function rooms.

Momento Hospitality CEO Marcello Colosimo told the panel on Monday it would be one of Sydney’s leading pub and entertainment venues.

“We are really excited by this project,” he said. “This hotel is clearly going to be one of the best in NSW. We pride ourselves on establishing new hotels in growing areas for the locals where they can have the best in class food, beverage and entertainment.”

Camden Council supported the project however Mr Colosimo called a proposed condition for the regular review of operating hours to be scrapped.

“As it stands, the condition effectively ensures it to be quite difficult to build the hotel from a pub point of view … it severely affects the viability of the hotel,” he said.

Momento Hospitality told the panel it plans to operate the venue until 1am for the first year, before extending the opening hours until 2am.

The venue is proposed on Peter Brock Drive, walking distance from the Oran Park CBD.

A decision on the project is expected to be published in the next fortnight.
