One Nation pulls biggest votes in Camden and Wollondilly

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation has been revealed as a key political player in the Macarthur region, pulling its biggest votes statewide in the Wollondilly and Camden electorates.

Pauline Hanson’s One Nation has been revealed as a key political player in the Macarthur region, pulling its biggest votes statewide in the Wollondilly and Camden electorates.

It was the far-right political party’s first dabble in NSW politics, with local candidates Charlie Fenton and Ben Casey attracting 11 and 13 per cent of the vote in Wollondilly and Camden respectively.

One Nation’s upper house candidate and former Federal Labor leader Mark Latham, who hails from Mt Hunter, had been strongly campaigning in the region in the lead-up to the election.

Charlie Fenton, the One Nation candidate for Wollondilly, said he thought it was a very positive result.

“I think we did extremely well,” Mr Fenton said.

“The (One Nation) brand is out there now and people have supported it.

“I thought it went well under the circumstances, when you are up against some serious contenders (in Wollondilly).

“People are just sick and tired of the major parties. They want an alternative.”

Mr Latham is expected to represent One Nation in the NSW Legislative Council.
