As well as being a magical experience, the birth of a child also can be among the most stressful experiences for young parents.
But for Shayden and Christine Wadley, of Narellan Vale, the birth of second son Benjamin saw the stress levels dialled up an extra notch.
Benjamin was born on January 5 at 9.19pm in the hallway of the family home, and was delivered by his father.
“Christine had a bit of a fall during the day and we think that might’ve brought on the baby,” Mr Wadley said.
“She’d had stomach pains during the afternoon and we’d decided to go to the hospital but as we were getting ready that’s when he decided to arrive.
“Thankfully triple-0 was able to actually talk us through the delivery.”
Mr Wadley estimated the labour took about 20 minutes. “It was a stressful experience but thankfully a good one,” he said.
Mr Wadley said the support of neighbours, one of whom is a paramedic, had helped ensure the successful delivery as the family waited for an ambulance to arrive.
Benjamin weighed a healthy 4.355kg at birth and is a little brother to Kennedy.
