Traffic delays on the Macarthur region’s congested roads, such as Narellan Rd, will not impact paramedics in medical emergencies, NSW Ambulance said.

“NSW Ambulance would like to assure the community that during medical emergencies paramedics are very adept at working through all traffic issues, due to appropriate use of lights and sirens,” a spokeswoman said. “However, NSW Ambulance urges the community to assist all emergency vehicles by moving appropriately and safely to the left hand side of the road.

“NSW Ambulance has stations at Camden and Campbelltown to service both the east and west of the M5, meaning the response capacity is well covered for Narellan Rd.’’

NSW Ambulance said urgent cases would always receive the closest available vehicle.

“Paramedics will choose the most appropriate route, depending on the time of day,” a spokeswoman said.
