A Mt Annan ‘mummy blogger’ will feature in a new ebook by national children’s cancer charity Redkite, which celebrates the humble loaf of bread and it’s role supporting young people with cancer and their families.
Stephanie Menegakis, the mum behind Mummy Blogger Sydney which boasts more than 11,000 Instagram followers, contributed her Banana-rama recipe to the book called For the love of bread.
The mum acknowledged how tough it would be for families to balance a cancer diagnosis with everyday life.
“Instead of packing lunches, you’re living off hospital food; instead of helping out with your child’s homework, you’re trying to help them catch up on schooling in between treatment; and instead of scrambling to pick them up from school, you’re rushing to hospital for midnight emergencies,” she said.
“I urge others to take initiative and lend a hand to anyone they know that may have a child with cancer.
“Offer to bring them dinner, take them out for a family fun day, or even help other children in the family with sporting and school events. Every act of kindness counts.”
The ebook features 22 feel-good sandwiches from families who have benefited from Redkite’s support and media personalities, while recognising the charity’s partnership with Coles which donates five cents from specially marked loaves.
