The company behind the Macarthur region’s first children’s hospital has proposed modifications to its approved plans in an effort to expand the facility’s medical scope.
The $30 million private health facility, to be located in Gledswood Hills, was first approved in 2017 by the Sydney Western City Planning Panel.
Hermitage Health Care, who will operate the four-storey facility, has proposed a number of changes to the approved plans including an increase of the number of levels which would allow hospital uses.
The new plans call for four levels, including the basement, to be zoned for hospital use.
Only two levels were approved in 2017.
Under the proposed modifications, the ground floor would act as a medical centre.
Hermitage Health Care is also seeking to boost the maximum number of people allowed to work in the building at the one time, requesting an increase from 40 to 100 people.
Hermitage Healthcare Group general manager Robert Lin declined to comment on the amended plans.
The children’s hospital is expected to offer a range of overnight and day surgery procedures including orthopaedics, dermatology, gastrointestinal, urology, dental and ophthalmology and will neighbour the future $330 million Camden Medical Campus.
Hermitage Healthcare Group currently operates three private health facilities across Sydney, including the Sydney Day Hospital, Norwest Day Hospital and Sydney Eye and Retina Day Surgery.
