Matt Lambert charged over alleged armed robbery at Rossmore service station after police raid Mount Annan home

During the alleged armed robbery, a 23-year-old worker was forced to the ground after being threatened with a shotgun by a balaclava-clad thief.

A balaclava-clad man allegedly stole thousands in cigarettes, hundreds in cash and motor vehicle oil during late-night armed robbery in southwest Sydney.

Mount Annan man Matt Lambert’s case was mentioned in Campbelltown Local Court on Friday after he was charged five offences.

Police allege that about 1.30am on May 13, the 33-year-old while wearing a balaclava and armed with a double-barrelled shotgun approached and threatened a shop attendant at a BP truck stop on Bringelly Road at Rossmore.

Officers were told the man demanded the worker open the doors to the service station, before forcing him to the ground and taking his multiple items and then fleeing the scene.

The 23-year-old worker was shaken but uninjured.

Court documents said Mr Lambert stole $7000 worth of cigarettes, $466 in cash, various mobile phone accessories and motor vehicle oil.

Initial inquiries were conducted by officers attached to Liverpool Police Area Command before the matter was referred to detectives from the State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Coopt.

Mr Lambert was arrested at the home and taken to Narellan Police Station where he was charged with five offences, including three counts of possessing a shortened firearm without authority, robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, and possessing ammunition without holding licence.

No pleas have been entered to any of the charges, and he remains in custody on remand. He will next appear at Campbelltown Local Court on August 10.
