An Australian motorsport hall of famer accused of child sex offences has had three charges, including intentionally carrying out a sex act with a child under 10, dropped in court on Wednesday.
Mat Josef Mladin, 48, who is attending a ‘rehabilitation retreat’ in the state’s north to treat mental health issues, was represented in Campbelltown Local Court by his lawyer Emmanuel Apokis.
Three charges, including two counts of intentionally carry out a sex act on a child and intentionally incite child under 10 to do sexual act to them, were dropped by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The 48-year-old remains accused of having sexual intercourse with a child under 10 and committing an act of indecency with a child. The court has previously heard Mladin planned to fight the allegations made against him.
“This is a matter which is obviously going to go to trial,” said Mr Apokis. “There won’t be a plea of guilty.”
The court also heard Mladin had been stalked at his Kirkham address and had his bail varied, by consent, to live in the Wollongong area once he leaves the ‘rehabilitation retreat’.
The matter will return to the same court on July 22.
