POLICE are investigating the death of a heavily tattooed man whose body was found stripped bare in a vacant suburban lot.
A by-passer spotted the body at the end of Englorie Park Drive in Rosemeadow, near Campbelltown, about 1pm on Thursday and called police.
“Initial inquiries suggest his death is suspicious,” a spokesman said.
The man had yet to be formally identified.
The body was found on a vacant lot on Benvenuta Way, a no-through road attached to a development area and houses which sits at the southern end of Englorie Park Dr.
More than half a dozen riot officers canvassed the area looking for clues.
Just after 7pm the riot squad left, leaving the crime scene with forensic specialists who were seen photographing a piece of evidence near the Benvenuta Way signpost.
Rosemeadow resident Brendon Diamond, 25, said he and his family hadn’t seen anything until a massive police response team arrived before 4pm.
“It seem pretty serious with all the cops everywhere,” he said.
“Lucky I don’t walk my dog there anymore — it’s pretty scary.”
Another neighbour said she couldn’t believe how close to home it was.
“Our house backs onto the park and so many dogs get walked around there,” she said. “I think I’ll be giving it a miss from now on.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers and Campbelltown police.
