More than 35,000 students are among 810,000 across the state from Kindergarten to year 12 attending public schools this year.
Five-year-old Evette Callaghan, of Campbelltown, is among 73,000 youngsters making the leap this week into big school for the first time.
Jenson Vella, of Camden, packed his bag and happily headed into Year 1 this year, keen to renew kindy friendships and continue his learning.
The NSW Government recently announced it would hire 4600 new teachers over the next four years to keep up with rising student numbers.
“We have some of the best teachers in the world,” Education Minister Rob Stokes said.
