A man who allegedly played a role in a fiery home invasion in Elderslie, near Camden, is facing the prospect of being charged with felony murder.

Jayden Reed, 23, of Bradbury, has been previously charged with five offences relating to the fatal fire inside a Crank Place home in June last year.

The alleged arson attempt is believed to have led to the fiery death of 21-year-old Hayden Forrest, who the court previously heard was allegedly one of the home invaders.

The court has previously heard the alleged arson attempt was motivated by an ongoing feud over $10,000.

Reed appeared before Picton Local Court on Tuesday, represented by Annette Wood, where the court heard extra charges were being considered by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

“The charge certificate isn’t ready at this stage,” the DPP representative said. “This is a complex matter, your Honour. The crown needs to consider possible further charges such as felony murder.”

A charge of felony murder would allege Reed was participating in a serious criminal activity which caused the death of Hayden Forrest.

Co-accused Frank Sdrolias, of St Andrews, also appeared before the court in relation to his alleged role in the fatal home invasion.

The 20-year-old, wearing a white shirt and bright blue suit pants, has been charged with intentionally damaging a home on Crank Place, Elderslie with the intention of endangering life and destroying property by fire.

Reed is also facing the same two charges, as well as aggravated break and enter, intentionally or recklessly damage property and armed with intent to commit an indictable offence.

Both men are on conditional bail and will return to Picton Local Court on April 14 for charge certification.
