One of alleged victims of prominent Narellan pharmacist Luigi ‘Louie’ Sbirziola, accused of nine child sex offences, has been interviewed once more by authorities the court has heard.

The 45-year-old Denham Court man has been behind bars on remand since May 16 last year after he was refused bail following his arrest by the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad in Harrington Park.

The 45-year-old has been remanded in custody since his arrest last year.

The charges against Sbirziola were mentioned in Picton Local Court on Tuesday, with a bid to adjourn proceedings for four weeks given the green light by Magistrate Ian Cheetham.

A Director of Public Prosecutions representative told the court while there had been “sufficient evidence” for the charges to be certified last year, the prosecution wished for extra time to consider evidence following a reinterview of one of the alleged victims.

In December, Sbirziola was hit with extra charges including two counts of paying a child, aged between 14 and 18, in prostitution and one charge of aggravated sexual intercourse with child aged 14 to 16. Police allege the Denham Court man engaged in sexual activity with two girls – both aged 16 – between December 2018 and February 2019.

He was originally charged in May last year of two counts of aggravated sexual assault deprive liberty, intentionally sexually touch child between 10 and 16 years old and procure child for unlawful sexual activity, allegedly involved a 14-year-old girl not known to him.

He has not yet entered a plea to all charges.

In 2017, the pharmacist was recognised by the Rotary Club of Narellan as a Paul Harris Fellow, an honour for someone who has contributed $1000 to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.

The matter will return to Picton Local Court on April 14.
