A 22-year-old Ingleburn man has been temporarily banned from state’s entire rail network after he alleged touched up a sleeping woman on a train near Minto.
Anish Shakya appeared before Campbelltown Local Court for the first time on Monday to answer to his alleged behaviour on the afternoon of Thursday, August 8.
Police allege a 29-year-old sleeping woman woke up on a train near Minto to Shakya touching her thigh.
He is then alleged to have touched her further sexually before she moved away.
The young man was arrested by police five days later at Glenfield Station following an investigation by Police Transport and Public Safety Command’s Strike Force Artemis.
He was released on strict conditional bail which forbade him from catching any train in NSW or contacting the victim.

On Monday, Shakya’s lawyer Dilip Rai asked Registrar Paul West for a six week adjournment as he was “in the process of making representations to police”.
Mr Rai told the court he was attempting to have one of Shakya’s two charges — sexually touch another person without consent and common assault - dropped.
It is unclear which charge he was referring to.
The matter will return to Campbelltown Local Court on October 21.
