Jayden Ghassibe: Oakdale man fronts court on drug supply charges

A man allegedly tried to throw away his cocaine stash hidden in his pants before police raided a home and uncovered an indoor cannabis hydroponic set-up at a property near Camden.

A man allegedly tried to throw away his cocaine stash hidden in his pants before police raided a home and uncovered an indoor cannabis hydroponic set-up at a property near Camden.

Jayden Ghassibe, 22, fronted Picton Local Court on Wednesday after being charged with nine offences including two counts of supplying an indictable quantity of drugs, three counts of drug possession, dealing with the property proceeds of crime, possess ammunition without holding licence and cultivating prohibited plant.

Court documents state police were patrolling Argyle St, Camden on October 10 when the spotted a white ute park next to a green van at Onslow Oval, before they approached Ghassibe who was the driver of the white ute.

Later, Ghassibe allegedly reached into his underpants and threw cling wrap containing eight bags of cocaine in clear resealable bags with blue background away.

Police then raided his home at Ammon Pl, Oakdale later that morning and allegedly found cocaine, a nine small fireworks, 11 large firework, loose and cannabis.

Court documents further state a room in the home had allegedly been repurposed to create an enhanced indoor cannabis hydroponic set-up containing three cannabis plants under one metre in height.

Ghassibe remains on bail and the matter was adjourned to November. No pleas have been entered.

An indoor cannabis hydroponic set-up has been uncovered at a property near Camden, which police raided after a man was allegedly found with bags of cocaine at a sports oval.

Police searched an address at Ammon Pl, Oakdale and located the drug set-up, as well as cocaine, cannabis, resealable bags, scales, fireworks, a rifle case and ammunition, about 11.20pm on Tuesday.

The police raid came after police stopped a ute at a Camden oval and found bags of cocaine on the driver – a 22-year-old man – about 5.30pm on Tuesday.

He was taken to Narellan police station and, following the search of the Oakdale property, was charged with nine offences including supplying an indictable quantity of drugs, drug possession, dealing with the property proceeds of crime, possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority and cultivate prohibited plant.

He was granted bail to appear at Picton Local Court on Wednesday.
