The flames of a suburban house fire have uncovered a massive “grow house” with more than 80 cannabis plants at Campbelltown.

Residents called NSW Fire and Rescue after seeing smoke billowing from a double-storey house on George St on Friday about 6am.

Sixteen firefighters arrived to combat the blaze, which damaged the roof and a bedroom but had no injuries were reported.

Police were called to the scene to establish a crime scene soon after the flames were put out and to investigate several allegedly suspicious items used for enhanced indoor cultivation of cannabis.

They allegedly seized more than 80 cannabis plants and plant seedlings, lamps, light bulbs and other drug paraphernalia from the house during their search.

Several residents have said the house was known for unusual activity, with no one seen living in the home for a number of months.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and have appealed to the public to reach out if they have any information.
