THE ribbon has been cut on the hugely-anticipated Gregory Hills Drive extension, officially open for motorists.
The $45 million connection, funded by Dart West Developments, will link the Campbelltown and Camden communities like never before.
Dart West Developments general manager David Taylor said the 5km link road was expected to improve travel times.
“The new road is all about making it easier to get around Macarthur,” he said.
“Dart West is pleased to have contributed to improving the regional road network so that Macarthur area residents and businesses can move around more conveniently.”
The road, expected to carry more than 20,000 motorists daily by 2026, links the existing sections of Gregory Hills Drive and Badgally Rd.
A single lane is open in each direction with construction of the final stage of the dual carriageway road due for completion by June next year.
The staged opening of the final section was necessary to allow access to St Gregory’s College throughout construction.
Mr Taylor said the road is part of the ongoing investment in the region’s roads.
“Camden and Campbelltown Councils, the NSW Government and the Commonwealth Government are all working together to co-ordinate and deliver new infrastructure and new communities across south west Sydney.”
The link road will provide a convenient link to the M5 Motorway via Eaglevale Drive and Raby Road, as well as direct access to Campbelltown.
