THE anticipated $45 million Gregory Hills Drive opening is weeks away, with work soon to be completed on the road infrastructure.
Dartwest general manager David Taylor said the road, which is expected to carry more than 20,000 vehicles daily by 2026, will link the Campbelltown and Camden communities.
“Gregory Hills Drive won’t just be good for people going to the motorway, but good for people’s everyday business,” he said.
“It will be good for people going to work, going to hospital and going about everyday life.
“It is about knitting the two communities together with the infrastructure the community needs.
“As any community which grows as quickly as the Camden area, it is important infrastructure keeps up with everyone aware Narellan Rd is under pressure with the upgrades taking place.”
A significant portion of Gregory Hills Drive will remain two lanes until 2018, as work continues on the second carriageway between Eagle Vale Drive and St Gregory’s Catholic College.
Line marking and the final seal will be completed in the next few weeks, with an announcement of an official opening date expected in the next few weeks.
Mr Taylor thanked the community for their patience.
