NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announces the start of consultation for the Spring Farm Parkway

A major road connection between Spring Farm and Menangle is set a step closer to reality after NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced community consultation on the project has started.

Stage one of the Spring Farm Parkway will include a four-lane divided road between Menangle Park, west of the Hume Highway, and Menangle Rd, and north-facing on an off ramps to the Hume Highway.

Part of the funding for the project will include $30 million from the NSW Government’s Housing Acceleration Fund.

Menangle and Menangle Park have been earmarked as future urban centres with rezoning already in place for development at Menangle Park.

Ms Berejiklian told the Macarthur Chronicle this morning that following the consultation period, the Government would construct stage one “as soon as possible”.

“The Macarthur region is one of the fastest growing in western Sydney and these improvements and upgrades will help to support the region as it grows during the next 20 years,” Ms Berejikian said.

“From what I hear from the local candidates from Camden and Wollondilly, this could slash travel times by up to 20 minutes for people and open up another gateway for the region.”

The NSW Government will also spend $16 million planning the extension of Liz Kernohan Drive in Spring Farm to connect with the Menangle section of road as part of the project’s second stage.

A Review of Environmental Factors is on exhibition at the Campbelltown Civic Centre, Narellan Library, Wollondilly Council and Camden Library.

Community information sessions will be held on March 9 and March 13 at Broughton Anglican College and Club Menangle respectively.
