The family of murdered Campbelltown man Jamie Phillips has made an impassioned plea for justice.
The naked body of the Campbelltown father, 46, was discovered by a passer-by on a vacant lot in Rosemeadow on October 25.
A post mortem determined Mr Phillips died as a result of multiple injuries, including stab wounds.
Speaking at Campbelltown police station this morning, Cheryl Phillips said she couldn’t understand why her son was targeted.
“He was a beautiful man. A loving son, brother and father to his girls,” Mrs Phillips said.
“He would help anybody and everybody. It’s why this doesn’t add up to me. I just don’t understand why anybody would leave him like that.”
Allen Phillips, the brother of the victim, said he was still in shock.
“I still can’t believe its happened to him,” Mr Phillips said. “I hope the person that has done this is going to get it twice as hard.”
Campbelltown crime manager Detective Inspector Greg Inger said police had examined a number of houses in the Rosemeadow and Ambarvale areas, with investigators of the belief Mr Phillips was assaulted at one of the properties.
“We have conducted examinations of a number of locations and we believe some of the assaulting of Jamie occurred at one of those locations,” he said.
“We need the assistance of the community to take us further and to identify what exactly happened on that night (and) early hours.”
Police believe Mr Phillips was targeted and his body left naked on the vacant lot in an attempt to conceal the killers’ identities.
Investigators believe there was more than one killer due to the nature of the injuries.
