Campbelltown Masonic Centre in Ambarvale destroyed in blazing fire

Investigators are trying to piece together how a fiery blaze broke out after it utterly destroyed a Masonic Centre in Ambarvale. See the footage from inside the fire trucks as they approach.

A blazing fire has utterly destroyed a Masonic Hall in southwest Sydney despite the best efforts of firefighters who attacked the inferno from all sides.

About 12.45am on Monday, emergency services were called to Wickfield Circuit, Ambarvale, after reports a building was engulfed in flames.

The fiery inferno engulfed the Masonic Hall causing its roof to collapse.

Nine fire trucks, including an aerial appliance, battled the fire from all sides of the building, but it could not be saved. The blaze was extinguished about 3.10am.

The Fire and Rescue NSW Fire Investigation and Research Unit has been called in to determine how and where the fire started.

The single-storey structure was unoccupied at the time and was destroyed.

Officers from Campbelltown Police Area Command also established a crime scene, which will be examined by specialist forensic police.

An investigation into the fire is underway and a cause is yet to be determined.
