Campbelltown locals have aired shock and dismay that some neighbouring areas haven’t joined them on the Queensland travel ban list, despite being coronavirus-affected.

Campbelltown MP and Shadow Minister for Western Sydney Greg Warren said in a statement he had been contacted by “numerous” people who were dumbfounded by the decision to not place Camden and Wollondilly local government areas on the banned list.

The Wollondilly area is on high alert after a confirmed COVID-19 case played pokies on four separate occasions at Picton Hotel from July 4 to July 10, with a pop-up clinic now in operation at Victoria Park, Picton.

Another coronavirus infected shopper visited Narellan Town Centre on July 6. The major retail centre is in the Camden area.

“I have had numerous constituents contact my office, dismayed that those in the Camden and Wollondilly areas were not also put on the banned list,” Mr Warren said.

“I note the outbreaks have occurred in Camden and Wollondilly areas, not Campbelltown, so I understand those frustrations with the decision.

“However our number one focus should be on containing the spread. We are all in this together and if we are to get on top of this situation, it will take a cooperative and collective effort. Make no mistake, this is a matter of life and death.”

Casula’s Crossroads Hotel cluster has now exploded to 28 cases, with ten new cases recorded in the last 24 hours.
