Campbelltown Council has slashed the costs of dogs and cats at the local pound.
Councillors approved the reduced animal adoption fees at Tuesday night’s meeting with cat prices being dropped from $240 to $170 and dogs from $360 to $320.
Council will also continue a 50 per cent discount of fees for animals considered difficult to rehome by staff at the Rose St Animal Care Facility.
The discount has seen the facilities euthanasia rates drop from 38.9 per cent for cats in 2015/16 to 3.8 per cent in 2017/18 while dogs dropped from 12.9 per cent to 2.7 per cent.
Campbelltown Greens councillor Ben Moroney said the reduced fees would help more people be able to purchase a new family pet.
“I’m very proud that we’re going to put these (fees) forward for people to find their forever pets at our animal care facility,” he said.
The animal care facility is at 2 Rose St, Campbelltown and is open from 10am to 4pm
Monday to Friday and 9am to noon on Saturdays.
