A man has been charged with drug and property offences after police allegedly found more than 3kg of cannabis, watches and tools during a search of a home in Narellan.

Police said they stopped a Volkswagen Golf on Camden Valley Way on Tuesday and, during a search of the car, allegedly found $6400 concealed under the steering wheel and a resealable plastic bag containing 19.4g of cannabis.

Campbelltown Local Court today heard Trent Andrew McDonald, 35, of Narellan, was then arrested and charged with possess prohibited drug and deal with property proceeds of crime.

His LegalAid solicitor said it was an “unusual” situation because while police subsequently granted his client bail, Mr McDonald was then escorted by police to a home on Rudd St, in Narellan, where officers executed a search warrant.

Mr McDonald was arrested again and charged with supply cannabis – indictable and goods in personal custody suspected being stolen.

His legal representative today applied for his release on bail.

Magistrate Carolyn Huntsman granted Mr McDonald’s bail application with strict conditions, including that he comply with a curfew and report to Narellan Police Station three times a week.

She said cause had been shown as to why his detention was not justified because he had earlier had “no opportunity” to comply with bail conditions upon his release.

“He was technically released on bail, but he was in police company the whole time,” she said.

The matter was adjourned to May 6.
